You don't need to become someone new.
You need to uncover who has been there all along.

In Thailand there is a giant Buddha that sat for centuries covered in plaster — until a crack revealed it had been solid gold the whole time. This is how I understand the work of coaching. The foundation isn't something we construct. It's something we find, beneath the layers modern life asks us to wear. My work is to help you clear away what was never yours, so you can live from what always was.

Who I Work With

If you see yourself here, you're in the right place.

What makes for human thriving? Research consistently links genuine connection and emotional intelligence to better outcomes in every domain — earnings, teams, health, and happiness. The longest-running happiness study ever conducted found that connection, more than achievement, is what makes a life. Indigenous wisdom highlights connection to self, others, and nature as the bedrock of human thriving. This work restores it. Tap any group below to see how we'd work together.

High performers & founders

You can hit every target and still lose the thread. If overwork has you sacrificing the basics — breath, real food, movement, rest — while your returns keep diminishing, we'll reconnect your ambition to what it was for. You started for a reason, and your North Star is still there.

Recovering people-pleasers

When approval becomes your currency, you end up performing someone else's vision of your life. We'll rebuild boundaries and self-trust — so your generosity stops costing you yourself.

Those building confidence

Quieting the inner critic, trusting your own judgment, and speaking in your own voice — in the meeting, on the stage, in your life. Confidence isn't a performance; it's what remains when you stop performing.

Those recovering from burnout

Recovery isn't just rest — it's redesign. We rebuild your resilience and your mental diet: what you consume, believe, and rehearse in your daily habits, so you can return stronger or strategically redirect your ambition.

People in transition

Career change, relationship change, identity change. Values-realignment work for when the old life no longer fits and the new one hasn't yet taken shape — so what you build next is actually yours.

Creatives & seekers

For those whose inner life and creativity have gone quiet under obligation. We widen the gaze: with a spotlight you can only see one thing at a time — with a wide perspective, you may finally spot what's been eluding you.

Across the entire range of focuses, the work draws on accountability & structure, proven personal-development psychology, and options for deepening practices including meditation, breathwork, and ceremony — always shaped to you, never a generic system.

I don't coach these struggles from theory. The anxiety that kept me from connection, the success that belonged to someone else, the burnout that cost me my health, the approval I chased at my own expense — I've lived my way out of each of them. That lived experience, and twelve years in mental health care, is what I bring to yours.

About Alex

I know what it's like to succeed as someone else.

In college I was, frankly, a mess. Debilitating social anxiety and depression kept me from connecting with the people around me — or with myself. In the years after, I did everything right: built a community of friends and musical collaborators, released three studio albums, co-founded a successful digital marketing agency, had a thriving social life and no shortage of support.

The problem? I didn't know who I was. The vision of success I was living wasn't mine. No matter how much better things looked, my accomplishments lacked one thing — me. I had become an expert at being someone else.

So I went inward. I began working with a spiritual coach and asking better questions of myself and my life. After a year of earnest work, I found and began living my core principles — what I stand for beneath the programming, what I can work tirelessly toward while holding a vision that's genuinely my own.

"your life is your life.
don't let it be clubbed into dank submission.
be on the watch. there are ways out…
the gods will offer you chances.
know them. take them." — Charles Bukowski

After twelve years working in mental health care, I now focus that experience on people ready to step into their highest purpose. I guide individuals and communities in reconnecting the intelligence of mind, body, and spirit — reawakening imagination, restoring belonging, and living from inner sovereignty. The work integrates clinical mental-health education and experience, spiritual practice, and creative practice to create transformation that endures.

We're meant to remember who we really are.

The Approach

Depth you can act on.

This is not a pep talk, and it's not therapy. It's a working partnership that pairs inner work — values, identity, the stories underneath your patterns — with concrete next steps you can take immediately. Every session is built to keep working long after we hang up.

Full sessions, fully yours

We meet for 75 minutes weekly for initial momentum, and space our meetings to every other week when the foundation is fully formed to leave room for integration. There's no formula imposed on you; the structure serves your growth, not the other way around.

Nothing is lost

After every session you receive a complete written summary of what we uncovered, along with resources — books, practices, frameworks — chosen for exactly where you are. Insights don't evaporate; they become material you can return to.

Integration between sessions

Change happens in the days between our conversations. You'll learn simple reflective practices — journaling, voice memos, meditations, time in nature, revisiting your notes in different contexts — that each turn each insight into a habit, and each habit into a vote for who you're becoming.

The Foundations Journey

Twelve weeks, four movements.

For those who want a complete arc, the Foundations Journey moves through four phases — because insight alone doesn't transform a life. Practice does, and community makes it hold.

Weeks 1–3

Awaken

Begin with honest self-discovery, grounded in proven psychology. Name your values, your patterns, and the gap between the life you have and the one calling you.

Weeks 4–6

Integrate

Connect insight to daily life through reflection and practice. What you've seen about yourself becomes something you do — lived, consistent, real.

Weeks 7–9

Belong

Change that lasts is never solitary. Build genuine community around your practices and principles — the people who will hold you to who you're becoming.

Weeks 10–12

Embody

Live your truth out loud. Express your rediscovered self through action: real decisions and real change — in your work, your relationships, in your way of being.

In Atomic Habits, James Clear describes the research-backed truth that without a tribe, we cannot sustain any change — or meet our calling. In an age of illusory connection, this journey treats real community as essential, not optional. Each phase reinforces the last, so transformation shows up in how you actually move through the world.

Client Stories

What clients say

Alex is a natural-born coach who brings warmth, presence, and deep listening to every session. He has a remarkable ability to hear not only what is said, but also what remains unspoken, and gently guides you toward your own clarity and insight. I felt deeply seen, understood, and supported exactly where I was in my journey. I consistently left our conversations feeling clearer, more grounded, and better able to move forward.

Joanna R. · Coaching client

When I came to Alex, I was stuck in thinking mode — endlessly analyzing and learning while avoiding taking action. Alex didn't just identify this pattern; he helped me understand why I was stuck and what I actually needed. He showed me that I've historically relied on crisis to motivate action, and helped me shift toward a new kind of fuel — one rooted in service and fulfillment rather than stress. That insight alone changed everything for me.

Common questions

What happens in the free Growth Session?

It's a real 60-minute coaching conversation, not a sales call. We map where you are, name your values and what matters most right now, and identify your clearest next step. You'll receive a full written summary afterward — and there's no obligation to continue.

Is coaching the same as therapy?

No. Therapy focuses on healing and treating mental health conditions; coaching is forward-looking work on values, purpose, decisions, and growth. My twelve years in mental health care inform the depth of this work, and coaching can complement therapy well — but it doesn't replace it. If you are in search of local therapists who can supplement this work, I can provide recommendations. If you are experiencing suicidal thoughts, call 988.

How is ongoing coaching structured?

Sessions are 75 minutes, scheduled weekly as a requirement during the initial sessions with an option to move to a bi-weekly schedule later. After every session you receive a complete written summary and resources chosen for exactly where you are, plus simple reflective practices to carry insights into the following days.

Do you meet in person or online?

Both. In-person sessions and group workshops happen in the Santa Barbara area; one-to-one coaching is available online everywhere.

What does coaching cost?

Session packages are shaped around your goals and are discussed following your free initial session.

Who is this for?

People in transition. High performers who've lost touch with why they started. Recovering people-pleasers. Anyone building a life — or a venture — who wants it grounded in who they actually are so that it can stand the test of time.
